A family friend named John was at both family weddings this August. He must have had some time on his hands between the events, as he prepared the following Kingswood treasure hunt for summer 2013. Side story: Rob Wiff, on the very day of his ceremony, took a solo walk about the property in order to have a few moments to himself.

Un-Sprung at Kingswood

There’s an old adage regarding New England that says, “If you don’t like the weather, wait a minute.” Rob and Becky, enticed by last week’s report, entitled “Spring at Kingswood,” decided to spend Memorial weekend in New Hampshire. Becky sent the following pictures of their lovely visit to Kingswood. A few captions, taken from the Kingswood Facebook page, add to the hilarity of the situation.

Spring at Kingswood

Alice and I had a lovely time at camp last week. The first batch of photos show those unique spring colors, a first-time sight for us, who had never visited Kingswood in mid-May. Only two geese inhabited the grounds, and I called them “mom and pop.” Please, no babies, I urged them, to no intelligible response.

The second round of photos is a bit of a game. ”Where am I?” Can you figure out where the photo was taken? FYI, we saw the moose twice. Answers available upon request.

I received a “cold call” from a fellow who insisted he was the best in the business of camp photography. Needless to say, he did not get far with me! In fact, I do not think it is possible to be any better than my daughter Sara is at capturing those looks on boys’ faces as they revel in the joys of youth, savoring every moment at camp. Below are her offerings for this summer. Indeed, about ninety of you will be receiving complimentary yearbooks by virtue of having paid the $800 deposit by December 1. (Consult your check registry, not me, if you forget!!) At bottom are a few of her photos from past summers, which I offer as proof to the statements above. Additionally, let me add that our accountant’s office corridor is adorned with spectacular landscape photos, also produced by Sara. Personalized Photo Book- $175

Personalized photo books are hardcover color photo books that artfully showcase your son’s experience at Kingswood. The price covers my time taking photos of your child, editing the photos, and digitally making a book filled with my best shots that will then be printed and bound and sent directly to you. I will send you your 5 favorite images for your continued use.

Yearbook- $80

The yearbook is the perfect way to reminisce about camp year around. The yearbooks are broken down by session- so one for 1^st session, and a second for 2^nd session. Both 1^st & 2^nd session yearbooks include my professional photos of each camper and counselor, cabin photos, scenic shots, and documentation of nearly every camp activity and event. If you signed up early for camp this year you will receive a complimentary yearbook.

Photos of your child- $50 + prints

I actively work to take pictures of your son (as I would if I were doing a personalized book). I will send you your 5 favorite images for your continued use. The rest you can browse on my website and can purchase for a modest fee.

April Showers

Once those April showers come along, spring props right up. It happened here in The Nation’s Capital just the other day. But, one question we get all the time about camp is “So, what do you do when it rains?” Of course, when it lightning and thunders, we go indoors and stay there until the storms pass. Staff Loyalists

Truth be known, Kingswood is blessed with many more staff loyalists than it has on staff. Put another way, a few guys who cannot return in 2013 are furious about that, and pledge that next summer will be a different story. That said, please scroll down the list of photos in today’s report to find quite a few of those staff folks who WILL be there. I did not use any checklist this time, so there are sure to be a few missing faces — guys who still are very likely to attend. Anyway, it is with pride that we indicate the following as “I’ll be there” candidates for summer 2013. Cannot wait.

Many Happy Returners

At my age, “Happy Birthday” stinks. I don’t want to be any older. But, if it must happen, then at least say “Many Happy Returns.” That’s my new norm with all my ancient friends! With that phrase on my mind today, allow me to offer a host of photos of boys, very happy to be returning to Kingswood in summer 2013.
